Tiketblok: an app to organize ‘Covid-free’ events

The cultural sector is relying on technology to try to recover normality and overcome the serious consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. The latest example of this could be seen during the concert of the group Manel held a few days ago in the hall La Mirona de Salt (Girona). It was attended by 1,000 people who were able to enjoy live music without security distances. How was this possible? Thanks to the Tiketblok app.

This application, created by the start-up of the same name and developed by the mobile apps team of ASM Web Services, works as an intermediary between the attendees and the events. It allows the entire audience of a large event to be identified through their cell phones. Tiketblok also offers event organizers a communication channel with attendees, in addition to including an identity and health certification within the ticket itself.

How does Tiketblok work?

To gain access to the concert, all attendees had to prove that they were people with very low contagious capacity (MBCC), and have the ICC AOKpass virtual health certificate. They could obtain it in about thirty associated pharmacies in Girona in three ways: by means of a negative antigen test, proving that they had passed the Covid-19 during the last three months or proving that they were vaccinated.

Tickets could be purchased through the La Mirona website, and were registered in the Tiketblok app, which the public had to install on their cell phone to access the event. The Tiketblok app connects anonymously with the issuers of official health certificates, to include in the ticket itself whether the ticket holder is an MBCC person.

This technological solution to ensure Covid-free events has already attracted the attention of other cultural event organizers such as Live Nation, Madrid’s WiZink Center or Vienna’s opera houses.

Although the Covid-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of the calendar of races and marathons in Spain, technology is making it possible to satisfy the competitive bug of runners. The latest example is the Meridiano Marathon, which, thanks to the Open Trail Races (OTR) app, can be run all year round.

Runners will have 5 routes available in the OTR app that correspond to the different distances of the program offered by this mountain race, which is organized on the island of El Hierro: 9, 18, 27 and 42 kilometers. They will also have the route of the vertical kilometer, the Ascent to Jinama from the Joapira Mountain.

The OTR race application has been developed by the ASM Web Services team for The Trail Zone, a company dedicated to sports tourism that creates and designs unmarked trail stations and competitive circuits 24/7 with the application.

The operation of the OTR app is very simple: the user installs it on the device with which he/she will follow the route -it is available for iOS and Android-, registers and downloads the race track. To follow the routes, a GPS device is required, as the routes are not specifically marked for environmental, ecological and environmentally friendly reasons.

The OTR application also allows virtual competitions between runners comparing times and rankings to encourage participation. The excitement and atmosphere of the race day, which edition after edition brings together more than 1,300 athletes, will be missing, but at least you will be able to enjoy this popular Canary Island route.

The app was created a few years ago, but the current impossibility of holding massive competitions has triggered its expansion. Downloads have increased considerably and new circuits have been created, as Joan Grau, CEO of The Trail Zone and Open Trail Races, explains in an interview in the newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The Meridiano Marathon joins other races that have also chosen to adapt to the current context by taking advantage of OTR’s features. This is the case of the Trail Mallos de Riglos, held in the province of Huesca, which can also be completed throughout the year thanks to the app.

In the municipality of Canyelles, in the province of Barcelona, on the other hand, they have launched two permanent mountain circuits in which runners can also compete or monitor their progress using the app.

 

Werfen makes the leap to Office 365 with ASM Web Services

Werfen had adopted cloud computing technology a few years ago, but wanted to go further. The world’s leading in vitro diagnostics company made a strategic decision to take full advantage of the capabilities of the cloud and provide its workers, partners and customers with new collaboration and productivity capabilities. That is why he decided to transition from IBM SmartCloud to Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud. The ASM Web Services team, led by Aleix Solà, manager of the cloud computing and systems area, developed the project in direct and ongoing relationship with Werfen.

From the multinational they stated that one of their main concerns was to try to ensure that this migration process had a minimal impact on its users. To achieve this, a coexistence strategy was carried out using Binary Tree’s CMT software.

Do we mean when we talk about a coexistence strategy? It consisted of Werfen’s SmartCloud services coexisting for a certain period of time with the new Office 365 while users were gradually migrating. In this period of coexistence, it was very important to have a specific configuration that allowed no information to be lost and that users did not appreciate that the process was underway. To create this specific configuration, it is essential to have a tool with the capacity to develop it. One of the most important on the market is that of Binary Tree . ASMWS is a certified company for its implementation, which has been used in many of the largest migrations in the world (Exxon Mobil, Novartis, Bank of New York).

ASMWS was able to customize the Binary Tree CMT Notes Migrator to provide a transition that met Werfen’s specific environment and requirements.

The results

To date, approximately 80% of Werfen users have successfully migrated from IBM SmartCloud to Office 365. The remaining users are planned to be moved securely before SmartCloud reaches the end of its useful life in July 2020. In In parallel, Werfen’s internal training department is helping migrated users in this transition to learn how to get the most out of the Microsoft cloud in the shortest time possible.

We implement One Time Password in Cofely to ensure secure remote access to your data

It is the One Time Password (OTP) solution that allows access to the corporate network using a virtual private network –Virtual Private Network (VPN) -. Every day more companies need to provide their teams with access to data remotely. Ensuring the security of this type of operation is essential. At ASM Web Services we are convinced that One Time Password is a very good solution, since it ensures a different password each time a user wants to access the company network. The mobile phone is used to generate the new password (token), which prevents the user from having a device to generate them. What technology have we used For the Cofely project we have used Symantec Validation and ID Protection Service (VIP) consisting of:

  1. VIP Access: an application that is downloaded to the SmartPhone and that provides a part of the OTP password.

  2. VIP Authentication Service: service in the Cloud that secures a single token per user (mobile device).

  3. VIP Enterprise Gateway: RADIUS server that we install in our infrastructure to integrate OTP with our corporate firewall.

User-friendliness It is common for users to be reluctant to change, and this is something Symantec has taken into account when implementing OTP using VIP. The user continues to use his username and password, but also must enter a numeric code after his password; that code number is the OTP. So that:
